Samsung’s Ativ S Neo confirmed for launch with Sprint August 16th. Do you remember Microsoft’s mobile operating system make over? The one that gave way to a new name a tile based UI? Microsoft took to their “eco system” to the next level with the likes of Windows Phone but the OS and its accompanying phone haven’t quite taken off as the company would have liked. If you are even slightly familiar with the OS there is a good chance you know it by those super colored and rather awesome Nokia Lumia smart phones. What you may have forgotten however is other companies like Samsung make Windows Mobile devices. Remember the Ativ series handsets? Tomorrow the Ativ series handsets will make a comeback with the Ativ S Neo.
Way back in June Sprint showed the world, that it would be launching its very first WP8 devices in the coming months. The first device to make that announcement a reality was the HTC 8XT which is a rather affordable device that brings the 8X device to its next logical step. The next device on that short list is the Samsung Ativ Neo S. In late July shortly after the launch of the 8XT an internal document surrounding the destiny of the Ativ Neo S surfaced to the headlines and claimed the handset would be launching on August 16th. Today Sprint has gone ahead and confirmed these suspicions. The company has announced the device and will be slinging them at $149.99 after a mail in rebate and a new contract. So what can you expect besides the excellence that Windows Phone 8 spews? Well the Ative S Neo starts with the likes of a 4.8 inch touch screen that offers up a 720p HD resolution and is built around a rather familiar Galaxy-esq build. The device measures in a mere 9 mm and houses an all day 2000 mAh battery, a dual core 1.4 Ghz processor, unknown GPU, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage with expandable micro SD memory options up to 64 GB. Around back we find an 8 mega pixel camera with LED flash while a 1.9 mega pixel sensor can be found up front. Add in all the standards in connectivity like 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-fi and NFC and the Ativ S Neo is a picture perfect phone.
